Two White Egrets. Lithograph. 1898.
Book illustration. Uilen Geluk. 1898
Hoytema was a skilled draughtsman, particularly passionate about drawing birds. In 1892 Hoytema illustrated The Ugly Duckling. The publication was followed up with several more bird themed illustrations. Hoytema made prints of storks, owls, peacocks, swans, egrets, among other bird species. Hoytema continued to produce illustrations into the 1900s.

Two Owls on a Branch. Bookplate. 1895. Lithograph
Hoytema’s prints gained the artist both commercial and artistic success. Collectors continue to seek out Hoytema’s books, prints and posters inside Holland and around the world.
